POSITION
Summary:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
The Camp Reed Summer Director directs, develops, organizes, and implements high quality Camp Reed traditional programs.
The Camp Reed Summer Director provides significant support and supervision to Camp Reed staff and volunteers throughout the summer camp session.
Essential Functions:
Lead and supervise all Camp Reed Traditional Camp programming to consistently meet the needs of campers and satisfy participants, under the direction of the Associate Branch Executive.
Ensures programs are compliant with American Camp Association standards, YMCA mission, and YMCA values.
Oversee day to day operation of Camp Reed traditional summer program in coordination with Camp Reed Associate and Executive Branch Directors.
Serve as director on duty in the event Directors are unavailable.
Supervise, support, and evaluate Summer Program employees and volunteers.
Ensure campers, staff, and volunteers follow safety policies and procedures, follow Child Abuse Prevention policies, and know how to report violations immediately.
Reports any safety violations immediately to Camp Directors through YMCA reporting protocols.
Cultivates strong relationships with campers and families and communicates with families regarding any questions or concerns related to their Camp Reed experience.
Serve as primary support for Camp Counselor's and for camper issues including, but not limited to, missing home and behavioral problems.
Model the Camp Reed Mission statement and YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to all staff, campers, families, and community members.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Recreation, or related field or related field preferred.
May be substituted with an associate degree and at least two years of related work experience.
May be substituted with at least four years of related work experience.
Three to five years related experience in a camp or non-profit setting preferred.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Completion of YMCA required trainings upon hire.

The employee is regularly required to move within the Camp Reed campgrounds and check in with different departments, camp counselors, and campers when needed.
The employee is required to live onsite at YMCA Camp Reed during the Traditional Camp summer session.
The employee is regularly required to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations.
The employee is regularly required to use oral and written comprehension and expression.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
